Marcus Panton - Director of Audit and Risk #cybersecurity, #AUDITANDRISKRECRUITMENT

High Demand for Cyber Security Professionals

Motability

The Audit & Risk Recruitment Company (ARRC) have been retained by Motability Operations to help them recruit a Cyber Risk Manager, a newly created and critical position that will lead on the embedding of cyber risk principles and frameworks across the organisation.

This opportunity has come about as Motability Operations Ltd undergoes an enterprise wide transformation in how it uses technology to engage with its customers.

Governmental benefit reforms have resulted in a marked change in their customer base, from one which has relied on more traditional forms of communication; postal services and land-lines etc, to a more ‘tech-savvy’ demographic who want to access their accounts and communicate digitally.

As the newly appointed Cyber Risk Manager, you will be the ambassador and champion for the organisations cyber risk capabilities. You will take ownership of building out the 2nd line Cyber Risk Function (and team), and work closely with the 1st line Cyber Security & Resilience team as an interface between the 1st line, 2nd line and 3rd line assurance activities.

If you are looking for a high impact role that will really influence business activities, opportunities don’t come much better than this…

Here’s a quick overview of the business:

Established in 1978 to operate the ‘Motability Scheme’, Motability Operations have now delivered motability to nearly 4 million customers throughout the UK. By providing cars, powerchairs and motability scooters to disabled people Motability Operations today provides affordable, convenient, worry-free motoring to over 600,000 disabled customers and their families.

Motability Operations are huge in scale. Of the new vehicles sold in the UK in 2018, 10% of these were bought by Motability Operations - some 220,000 new cars. Since 1978 Motability Operations have bought nearly 5 million vehicles.

To understand what it is like to work at Motability Operations is to understand its customer base. All decisions made within the business evolve around the pillars of enhancing the customer experience. This is why the scheme has been a resolute success with overall customer satisfaction at 99%. Since 2018 alone Motability Operations have spent more than £1.37 billion to improve its customer offer. This includes investing in lease pricing to make cars more affordable. In June of this year Motability Operations announced it would release a further £370 million from its financial reserves to support disabled people and their families, and not all of these will be Motability customers.

The Cyber Risk Manager will report directly into The Head of Risk and Compliance, Matt Spano who has been at Motability Operations since 2009. Matt started his career at Deloitte before building out best in class audit functions at Just Retirement and Motability. As of July this year Matt now heads up the Second line of Defence. He has recruited, nurtured and developed many people who’ve gone on to do a wide range of interesting and significant jobs in many different companies.
