A highly acquisitive, global veterinary group operating over 2000 sites is recruiting a Risk Manager. To support their impressive growth and a likely listing in a few years, a new risk and internal audit function has been established and working closely with the Director and Senior Manager within the team, both of whom joined this Summer, you will support in the build of this function.
Whilst the HQ and your office location is near Bristol, they can support home working with the expectation of a day or two a week in the office
The initial focus of the function is on risk management, and your role will include running risk workshops and managing the corporate risk register ensuring mitigating actions agreed with risk owners are constantly being monitored. You will be working closely with corporate function stakeholders, including up to exec level, in helping them better understand and manage their risk profile, so it’s a great opportunity to make an impact and demonstrate your commercial awareness and ability to advise and business partner.
Once the foundations are in place, attention can turn to conducting more risk-based audits (with the support of the co-source partner) and you will be able to undertake a blend of risk management and audit focused work, should you wish. Also, as the team invariably grows it will present you routes to progress and the potential to line manage.

In terms of background skillset and experience, a mix of risk-based internal audit and risk management would be the ideal. Experienced risk-based internal auditors with experience in large, private companies (or working with such clients if from Big4 / Top 10) are also be considered if able to demonstrate a tangible interest as to why keen to move into a risk management position. An accounting or risk qualification is also sought.
